Depression Therapy — When Everything Takes More Than You Have

Depression therapy helps when low mood, exhaustion, and numbness have flattened the things that used to matter. At Tea Time Therapy, we combine practical, evidence-based work like CBT and behavioral activation with a therapist who actually gets it — virtually, anywhere in Massachusetts. It starts with a free 15-minute consultation.

Signs

Plenty of people with depression aren’t crying — they’re tired, irritable, foggy, and quietly furious at themselves for not being able to snap out of it. Depression is very good at convincing you it’s a character flaw. It isn’t. It’s a condition, and it responds to treatment.

Depression pulls you into a shrinking loop: you feel bad, so you do less, so there’s less in your life that feels good, so you feel worse. We work on that loop from both directions — gently rebuilding the parts of your week that give something back, while challenging the inner voice that says none of it will help anyway.

The order matters. We don’t wait for motivation to show up first; in depression treatment, action usually comes before the feeling does. Your therapist will help you start small enough that starting is actually possible.

You don’t need a tidy explanation for why you feel this way. "I don’t know, everything just feels heavy" is a completely acceptable place to begin. That’s the whole point of the first session.

Is my depression "bad enough" for therapy?

If it’s affecting your life, it counts. You do not need to hit a crisis to deserve support — a lot of our clients are functioning fine on paper and exhausted underneath. Therapy is just as useful there.

What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?

That’s worth telling us in your consultation. Fit matters enormously, and so does approach — a therapist who’s more structured, or more direct, or simply a better match can change the whole experience. Our admin team matches you deliberately rather than assigning whoever is free.

What if I’m having thoughts of harming myself?

Please reach out for immediate support — call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. Tea Time Therapy is not a crisis service, but we can absolutely be part of your ongoing care once you’re safe.
