Solution Focused Therapy — Start From What’s Working

Short-term and forward-looking — build on what already works.

Solution Focused Therapy is a short-term, forward-looking approach that spends less time analyzing the problem and more time building on the moments it’s already smaller. You define what "better" looks like, then work backward into concrete next steps. It’s one of Tea Time Therapy’s named specialties, offered virtually across Massachusetts.

Good fit if

Not "why are you like this?" but "when is it already a little better, and what’s different about those times?" Almost everyone has exceptions — days the anxiety was quieter, arguments that didn’t escalate. Those exceptions are data, and they’re usually more useful than the problem is.

Focused and forward-leaning. You’ll get asked what you want your life to look like in real detail, then you’ll work out the smallest next step that moves toward it. It respects your time and treats you as the expert on your own life.

As her Services page puts it: we are the experts with the skills to navigate these things; you’re the experts on what needs to be navigated.

Being solution-focused doesn’t mean skipping the hard parts or pretending things are fine. It means not living there. Your therapist will still take the difficult stuff seriously — the difference is where the session spends its energy.
