Person-Centered Therapy — You Set the Direction

You lead. Change starts with being genuinely seen and heard.

Person-centered (humanistic) therapy starts from the belief that meaningful change begins when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. Rather than the therapist directing the work, you lead — and the relationship itself does much of the healing. Lilyanna Sorel approaches therapy from this perspective at Tea Time Therapy.

Good fit if

This can sound soft until you’ve felt it. Being met with real, unhurried, non-judgmental attention is rare enough that most people have never had a sustained experience of it. It turns out to be one of the most reliable predictors of whether therapy works at all — across every approach.

No agenda imposed from the other chair. You bring what matters this week, at the pace you can manage, and your therapist follows you rather than steering. For anyone who’s spent their life accommodating other people, an hour that is genuinely yours can be its own kind of intervention.

Lilyanna Sorel is a compassionate and energetic counseling intern who approaches therapy from a humanistic, person-centered perspective. She values the power of listening and believes every person’s story deserves care and attention — grounding her approach in empathy, curiosity, and collaboration. Sessions with an intern are $40.
